Principles & privacy

Privacy.

Hermeus is an independent journal by The Hermeutic.

The Unwatched Mind

To read is to think in private. Hermeus exists for the free exchange of ideas, which requires absolute respect for both your attention and your solitude. We refuse the modern web’s economy of surveillance: you will find no advertising networks, audience analytics or behavioural tracking pixels here.

Our stance is rooted in the European values we uphold. The EU Charter of Fundamental Rights recognises the protection of personal data not merely as a technical regulation, but as a component of human dignity. Our practice is therefore simple: we gather only what is strictly necessary, use it solely for the purpose you intended and never reduce a reader to an audience profile.

Technical Infrastructure

To bring these pages to your screen and protect the journal from malicious traffic, Cloudflare processes basic technical request data on our behalf. All typography and artwork are hosted directly by the journal, ensuring third parties cannot track you through external assets.

Correspondence

A letter to an editor is a private conversation. When you write to us, your name, email address and message are used solely to read and reply to your thoughts. Your words are never published without permission, and your address is never added to a marketing list or shared with anyone beyond the providers needed to protect and deliver your correspondence.

The Hermeutic is responsible for correspondence received here. Cloudflare protects the form against spam and delivers messages to the author’s private inbox, hosted by Proton. Hermeus keeps no message database. Messages are retained only as long as needed to consider and answer your correspondence. You can use the same form to ask about your personal data or request its deletion.
